FAMILY RUN

RICH IN HISTORY

Nik and Cindy Minhas, Spicy Affair Indian Cuisine owners in Swedesboro, NJ, had a mission when they arrived here from Vancouver, Canada. Together, they saw the potential to make their mark not just as residents, but as ambassadors of culture, flavor, and family. They wanted to honor the American dream—building something new and beautiful, rooted in the belief that food, much like family, has the power to unite us all. Their journey was about more than just bringing Indian flavors to a small town; it was about celebrating the diversity that makes America special, and sharing their passion for food with the people who had welcomed them with open arms.
The historic building now home to Spicy Affair Indian Cuisine has a remarkable place in Swedesboro’s history. According to an article published in the Salem Standard and Jerseyman on Wednesday, January 26, 1916, the newly constructed Swedesboro National Bank officially opened its doors on Saturday, January 22, 1916. Designed by Charles R. Peddle, the impressive building featured red brick, white marble columns, bronze and plate-glass entrances, and finely crafted architectural details. At the time, it was considered one of the finest and most handsome bank buildings in New Jersey. More than a century later, this beautiful landmark has taken on a new life, welcoming guests to Spicy Affair Indian Cuisine. Today, it is home to one of the most unique dining rooms in one of the most beautiful historic buildings not only in Swedesboro, but throughout the surrounding area.
